SPECIAL FREE SCREENING + LIVE PRESENTATION FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLS

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9 • 10:00 – 11:30AM | SMITH RAFAEL FILM CENTER

We are excited to offer this special free screening and live presentation exclusively for local middle schools. Inspirational humorist, motivational speaker, and performer David Roche and his wife Marlena Blavin will join us in person to present the film and share their personal story about difference and belonging, judgment and inclusion.

“What happened to your face?”

Filmed at Mill Valley Middle School, Love at Second Sight transforms attitudes about appearance and encourages students to accept themselves and others. As they tell their heartwarming and emotional story of how Marlena came to fall in love with David, a man with a noticeable facial difference, we see how students’ perceptions about appearance and acceptance are challenged and changed in real time.

Love At Second Sight encourages young viewers to take a vital second look that can transcend superficial judgments and establish a deeper sense of what true beauty is. With simple honesty and engaging humor, David and Marlena establish an intimate connection with students as they share stories from their lives.

“We’ve had dozens of speakers here over the years, but none have sparked such overwhelmingly powerful responses from our students as did David and Marlena. Their message is joyous and uplifting—our kids (and faculty) loved them.”
